Why do people google URLs?

url searchJust a quick note….I was just going through my blog stats and noticed several searches consisting of URLs bringing traffic to this blog. Most of them were to post pages and the URL is relatively long, and therefore must have been copied. Why are people pasting URLs into google instead of pasting them into the address bar? I don’t get it.

Less savvy internet browsers (Like my Mum and Sister, lol) will often mistake the Google search bar in their browser for the actual address bar. I get on them about it all the time but they still just click away at the first result instead of retyping it.

I think some people use it because they don’t have to worry about mistyping a URL. Google will offer them a suggestion. And the I’m Feeling Lucky button makes the address bar in a browser almost superfluous.

I still use the address bar, but I’m starting to wonder why.

  4. I never thought about that Cromely. I’m starting to wonder why myself.

I’m still confused about copied and pasted URLs though, as those won’t have mistakes.
