I have recently started a Java course and came across this quote in the textbook.
“It has often been said that a person does not really understand something until after teaching it to someone else. Actually a person does not really understand something until after teaching it to a computer, i.e., expressing it as an algorithm.”
-Knuth, Don. Selected Papers on Computer Science. Stanford, CA: Centre for the study of Languague and Information, 1996.
Actually, I’ve found you haven’t really learned something until you’ve tried to explain it to someone and got laughed at for being a moron. That always makes me go back and read the thing over and over and over until perfect understanding (or at least perfect memorization) is accomplished.
