OK, my new computer isn’t that far along, but this is a start. I just found a new case and power supply while I was out for a jog today. Somebody put it out with their recycling. It took a bit of effort to get it home, as I was still about 4km away. It was actually a lot harder to jog with than I would have thought. It needed to be held out in front, which made the box start to feel very heavy very quickly. I ended up running/speed-walking back.
Whenever I start collecting more innars to go along with this box, I am almost certainly building a hackintosh. What is a hackintosh you ask? A hackintosh is a computer with regular PC components, but is slightly modified to run Mac OS. There is a growing community of enthusiasts called OSx86 that is making this a feasible option.
I think that the demand for a mid-range box from Apple is increasing; however, I have never heard rumors about one coming. I am starting to think that they will never deliver a sub $3000 tower.
Anyways, check out my new box:
If you haven’t seen O’Reilly losing it at his teleprompter and crew, you obviously don’t use the same internet that I do. Check out the rant here if you haven’t seen it (again, I am very surprised if you haven’t seen it….go watch it if you haven’t!). Although this is bad, there are worse recordings of one of the worse TV personalities in the US.
Here is a clip of O’Reilly interviewing Richard Dawkins. I think that is actually worse than the one of O’Reilly losing it. It is one of the worst interviews I have ever seen. I can’t believe that FOX isn’t embarrassed to have this guy on the air. Check it out:
On a lighter side, here is the dance remix of O’Reilly losing it. Very funny….
That’s it.
Unintentionally, this week is turning into creation week. I am looking at drafts of upcoming posts and they are all about creationists. I hereby declare this Creationism Week here at Observations of a Student.
First of all, if you haven’t heard about Ben Stein’s movie Expelled, go watch the trailer and read a previous post I wrote about losing respect for Ben Stein. ‘Expelled: no intelligence allowed’ is a pro-creationist movie that is nothing more than religious propaganda.
In Exposed, Ben Stein is incredibly dishonest in manipulating his audience. It is sad that people without much scientific knowledge could come out of the movie believing the horrible things that Stein says. Actually, scientific knowledge is the wrong word. All the movie requires is a scientific mind, not specifically knowledge. There are many things that Stein gets wrong, and he makes some outrageous claims. Here are just a few:
“If Darwin wanted to challenge the consensus today, how would he do it? Science is not a hobby for rich aristocrats anymore, it’s a multi-million-dollar industry. And if you want a piece of the pie, you’ve got to be a good comrade.”
“Darwinism also has not one meaningful word to say on the origins of organic life, a striking lacuna in a theory supposedly explaining life” – ( Of course that’s not what Darwinism is about. The theory of magnetism doesn’t explain the origins of life either)
The site expelledexposed.com is one of the main forces trying to educate viewers and expose the truth behind the film. I have been looking at some stats for expelledexposed.com and think that it needs more promotion.
Here they are below:
I realize that stats aren’t everything, and that both of the stats are fundamentally flawed. With regards to “expelled” vs “expelled exposed” in google trends, the former will always outrank the later, just because it is a common word. Alexa rankings have some issues too, and should be viewed as more of a guideline. Even though these stats are flawed, I still believe that expelledexposed.com needs to be promoted more.
Go out and promote expelledexposed.com !!!!!!!! digg it, reddit it, stumble it…..tweet it…facebook it…whatever you can come up with.
I’m not sure where this is from. It was just kicking around on my computer.
I have been googleing Religulous every few days, looking for new info and trailers. A new poster has been released a few days ago. Originally, the movie was supposed to be released at easter, but this has passed. It is now slated to come out on July, 11 in the US.
There has been little info about this movie apart from Maher’s interview with Larry King.
Here’s the poster:
Well, the 12pm deadline (something I don’t really agree with) has passed and I didn’t pull off a single prank. April fools day is my favourite secular holiday and I am pretty bummed that I missed out.
Here’s one of the best pranks that I’ve seen recently. It is a screenshot of a hacked version of Ann Coulter’s website. I’m not sure if it is authentic, but is is funny nonetheless.
If you don’t know of Ann Coulter, watch this video here.
