I saw this sign by the meat section of my local grocery store, Thrify Foods, and had to take a picture. I think the rest is self explanatory.
Why not just say 1kg = 2.2 lbs?
Interesting post. It would be too easy for them to just say 1kg = 2.2 lbs. Nothing is done that is easy, always have to take the long way around.
They shall take it further… 5lb weight = 2.27 kg = 2270 g = 0.00250224668 tons
Maybe they didn’t want to waste the space on the paper, or they could simply be relieving people from mathematical hardship!
