Here are a bunch of pictures that have just been collecting dust in a “to be sorted” folder deep in my hard drive. Most of these are self explanatory. The animated beans are not actually animated, it is an optical illusion. Stare at one to prove this to yourself. The last picture is there just because Montreal is in the middle of a playoff run….Go Habs!!

About the animated bean picture, I think Daniel Dennett (from your previous post) gave an answer (or part of the answer) in his video. He mentioned that our eyes move rapidly from one point to another, giving the illusion that we’re seeing a bigger picture.
This could be why the beans seem to be moving. Our eyes move from a bean positioned one way to a bean positioned another way. Since our eyes are constantly fidgeting, the beans got animated. Am I making sense?

“Just think, we could have been exploring the galaxy by now.”
I’m laughing out loud at this one…my coworkers think I’m crazy. Thanks for sharing these!

Having the picture as a GIF I was initially skeptical, but I saved that bad boy as a bitmap and it still shimmered. Annoying indeed.
